More gales, more rain

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Last night’s northwesterly gales have eased. However, MetService says that northerlies will remain strong in Wellington and could approach severe gale force for a time in exposed places until tonight. Rain will continue this afternoon.

Severe weather watch: Area: Wellington and southern Wairarapa
Valid: 13 hours from 7:00am to 8:00pm Friday
Forecast: Severe northwest gales have eased, however, northerlies remain strong and could approach severe gale for a time in exposed places until evening.

November 8: Severe northwesterly gales gusting to 130 km/h in exposed places were forecast for Wellington and the Wairarapa until 11pm tonight.

MetService warned that wind gusts could damage trees, power lines and unsecured structures. It says driving may be hazardous, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.
