Do you, or someone you know, need a caring house and cat sitter late April/mid May 2024?

Sheridan from Kohimarama

I’m booked for most of 2024 but I have a gap between the below dates:

AVAILABILITY
20 April 2024 to 14 May, 2024 (24 days)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you prefer the peace-of-mind of 'in-home' care, I can help with that. If you don't have any pets but prefer your home looks lived-in, I can help with that too.

ABOUT ME
I’m retiring late-June and am currently planning my van fit-out before heading off to finish hiking the rest of the great walks and Bikepacking wherever. I currently work full time as a Documentation Specialist for a software company Monday to Friday in the Auckland CBD and ride to work most days. I do gardening, mow lawns, pull weeds, clean pools…whatever is required to keep your home looking ‘loved and lived in’.

SUBURBS
Any homes located in or on the fringes of these suburbs: St Heliers, Mission Bay, Orakei, Glendowie, Remuera, Meadowbank, Kohimarama, St Johns, Newmarket, Parnell, Ponsonby, Herne Bay, Pt Chev.

Happy to pay for water, gas, power and internet usage.

Please reply to this post or just send me a personal message via Messenger or Facebook - I'm very easy to find.

What workplace change would you like to see most?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

This coming Monday is Labour Day in New Zealand. This public holiday marks when the eight-hour workday and 48-hour workweek became law in 1899. The idea started with Samuel Parnell, a carpenter in Wellington, who in 1840 refused to work more than eight hours a day. Since skilled workers were in short supply, his employer had to agree.

As more skilled workers arrived, employers tried to change working conditions, but Parnell and others kept pushing for better rights. In 1890, Parnell led a Labour Day parade of 1,500 people to promote the eight-hour day. He passed away shortly after, and nine years later, Labour Day became an official public holiday.

Do you feel that we have reached the ideal in working environments yet? What rights are you passionate about relating to employment? Share your thoughts!

Bad treatment

Carolyn from Greenlane

I go around with the feeling I have a bullseye on my back. This year I have been physically attacked by 3 people. None of which I was facing . Photographs taken by management. Verbally abused on many occasions. When I go into the common room I take my phone. Have rung the police. Phone always taken off me by management.i want to be safe.
