About Kia Puāwai

Established in 1997, Kia Puāwai is a national charitable trust working to improve the lives of tamariki and rangatahi who are dealing with behavioural, emotional, mental health or development issues.

Our kaupapa: We believe our tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau deserve to thrive. We draw from te ao Māori and te ao Tauiwi knowledge to strengthen wellbeing, mana and wairua.

We deliver programmes that have been shown to work, meet the needs of people from different backgrounds and focus on: therapy in the home, parenting support, keeping whānau together, and foster care and group home placements. In addition, our West Auckland office, Youth Service West, supports young people through education, training or employment.

Our services are underpinned by the philosophy that rangatahi should be empowered to fully participate in family/whānau, community and other pro-social activities.

Kia Puāwai is committed to the continuous development of a bi-cultural approach to treatment and service delivery through our Waka Hourua strategy. Our values and kaupapa are integrated throughout our organisation with all services committed to professional practice that reflects our core values of aroha, whanaungatanga, wairuatanga and manaakitanga.
