How much can I borrow?

My Money

Good news for low deposit savers. 5% Deposits for a First Home Buyer are now available.

You may be aware, the Government has just announced extensive changes have been made to Welcome Home Loans offered in conjunction with Housing New Zealand Corporation.

The changes announced by Government, which apply from today (October 1), rename Welcome Home Loans to First Home Loans. The new minimum deposit requirement for a First Home Loan* has been reduced to 5%.

These loans will now be supported by Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities, a newly established entity that replaces Housing New Zealand Corporation’s involvement

From October 1, My Money is considering applications for a First Home Loan with up to 95% of the property purchase price

Our team is excited by the opportunities to help New Zealanders into their first homes and we look forward to helping you with any queries you or your clients might have around this.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
