The tourists who have been causing a stir around Auckland after allegedly abusing locals when confronted for littering Takapuna Beach and allegedly making trouble at multiple restaurants have been served a deportation notice by Immigration New Zealand.

Brian from New Lynn

The news comes after it was reported that police received reports of "the family causing trouble" at Burger King in Hamilton, this afternoon. The family was filmed outside a Te Rapa, Hamilton Burger King today where they were being spoken to by police and Immigration. A spokesperson for Immigration New Zealand (INZ) has now confirmed that the family was issued with a deportation notice over the Burger King incident. "INZ can confirm that Deportation Liability Notices (DLN) were served on individuals involved in the incident at Burger King in Hamilton today. "Section 157(5) of the Immigration Act 2009 provides for temporary visa holders to be issued with a DLN on a number of grounds, including matters relating to character," Peter Devoy, Assistant General Manager of INZ says. The notices mean the family have 28 days to appeal their deportation. One of the family members told 1 NEWS reporter Paul Hobbs the family plan on leaving the country tomorrow. Earlier, the family denied any wrongdoing, saying they are the ones who have been poorly treated during their trip to New Zealand.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
