"Broken String" by North Shore playwright Geoff Allen is the second play in the play reading series which continues at The Vic this Sunday 15th Nov. 4pm
It’s an engaging comic drama about quirky
Cornish settlers who are trying to save their prized baby grand piano during the Waikato wars. The arrival of a Maori woman throws them into confusion with misunderstandings of language, accents and worlds.

The third and final last play is "Cherish " by one of New Zealand’s foremost playwrights, Ken Duncum. Its an award-winning drama about two couples and the children they share and examines what happens when good intentions run up against the hard realities of human need.

'The strength of Ken Duncum's extraordinary and exciting play, Cherish, lies in his ability to dissect with surgical skill the tangled emotions of his characters and expose them clearly and convincingly while he ratchets up the tension with an intriguing plot. ‘ (Dom Post Wellington)
