I'll be investing in a huge bottle of sanitiser I think for all door knockers and perhaps dishing out (wrapped) treats with tongs myself. But most important I figured is the contact tracing. I just went on the Covid-19 website and it was an easy peasy process to apply for our own QR code. I just skipped the two bits that wanted some sort of business identification number and it all went through ok. Apparently it will be a couple of days before I am emailed the poster though, so do it before next weekend if you're wanting it for then. I debated about having a clipboard for those groups of children who don't have an adult or a smartphone with them but I'm thinking they wouldn't be comfortable leaving contact details with a total stranger so fingers crossed every group has one or the other. Over the last week Police have seen a huge increase in reported burglaries in Onehunga. It is important that local residents are made aware in order that an increase in vigilance be taken.
These offences have occurred near Trafalgar St, Inkerman St and Mt Smart Rd areas. Police believe that many of these burglaries are linked to the same offender due to close proximity and timings of incidents.
As a result of this crime spree we are increasing bail checks on local known offenders to ensure compliance with court and police bail restrictions. Police have also been tasked with increasing patrols in the hot spot areas.
At this stage we do not have any nominated suspects.
Earlier this week a burglary occurred on Symonds Street Onehunga. The suspect approached a residents address where they rang the doorbell to check if anyone was home. This particular address had a doorbell camera which obtained an image of a suspect believe to have committed a burglary on Symonds St, Onehunga. Refer to pic #1 on the attached crime alert.

A new busway in east Auckland is drawing nearer to completion with a new alliance formed to carry out the last construction stages.
The $1.4 billion project will see three new stations in Panmure, Pakuranga and Botany connected by bus, cycle and walking lines by 2025.
It promises to generate … View moreA new busway in east Auckland is drawing nearer to completion with a new alliance formed to carry out the last construction stages.
The $1.4 billion project will see three new stations in Panmure, Pakuranga and Botany connected by bus, cycle and walking lines by 2025.
It promises to generate thousands of jobs to help the region recover from the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Fletcher, Acciona, AECOM and Jacobs have been chosen to design, consent and build the final stages of the Eastern Busway project, expected to carry more than 30,000 people a day between the rapidly growing south-eastern suburbs and the rail network in Panmure.
The busway will cut travel time between Botany and Britomart, reduce traffic congestion and vehicle emissions, said Auckland Mayor Phil Goff.
It will help give East Aucklanders a less than 40 minute commute from Botany to the CBD, said Minister of Transport Phil Twyford.
The alliance will start critical design and consenting work before progressing to construction, expected to start in 2022.
The group has overseen other major infrastructure projects including Auckland's Waterview Connection, the SH 16 Causeway Upgrade and Brisbane's Eastern Busway.
Remaining stages of the project will extend the high frequency busway under construction between Panmure and Pakuranga to a new station in Botany Town Centre.
Project Alliance Board Chair Dean Kimpton said the alliance partners are excited to be part of a project that will contribute wide-reaching social and economic benefits to the Auckland region.
"The next stages of the project are expected to generate hundreds of jobs in the short-term and provide work for thousands of people and dozens of businesses in the supply and construction sector," Kimpton said.
Auckland mayor Phil Goff says an announcement could be made soon on Auckland's light rail.

After Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern's big victory on October 17, the light rail system connecting the airport to Auckland's central city may finally get off the ground.
But Transport Minister Phil Twyford alluded key decisions are still to be made.
Twyford said in June the governing parties could not agree on a preferred proposal and the future of the project would be decided by the new Government following the election.
