Fatal incident in Pakuranga

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

A person has died in Auckland’s Pakuranga Heights after reports of gunshots early on Monday.

What you need to know:
- A series of gunshots were reported around 6.45am on Marvon Downs Ave.
- There were at least eight police cars around a property on Marvon Downs Ave about 7.30am. Armed police stood guard over a cordoned off area of the street.
- A person was located in a vehicle at the intersection of Marvon Downs Ave and Pixie Place and were attended to by medics - but died at the scene.
- Earlier on Monday, police shift commander Kerry Watson said officers were responding to a “critical incident”. Watson said it was going to take some time for police to piece together what had happened that led up to the incident.
- Despite the proximity to Elm Park School, the school will remain open. However the Principal shared that “There is a strong police presence which may inhibit access to the school from Cascades Road side,” Baleicakau said.
