๐Ÿ’š Do you know Conscious Kidsโ€™ Rule #1?

Rita from Conscious Kids New Zealand

Many of you that have sent your children to Conscious Kids over these last 7 years know our most important and unshakeable rule - HAVE FUN! If children break any of the other 4 Conscious Kids rules (as our poster), they will consequently break rule # 1.
Our Conscious Kids rules are not only applied in our Programmes, but they are also intrinsic to how we work as a team and relate as human beings.

A few days ago I watched this great Ted Talk from Catherine Price about the importance of adding FUN moments to our days and prioritising FUN in our lives.

She is one of ours!

As the week starts, we invite you to watch this TedTalk and rethink your concept of having FUN. www.ted.com......

Catherine says, (and we experience and share):

๐Ÿ‘‰ True Fun = Playfulness + Connection + Flow
๐Ÿ‘‰ Fun is a feeling, and it's not an activity
๐Ÿ‘‰ It's not just for kids
๐Ÿ‘‰ Fun is the secret to feeling alive
๐Ÿ‘‰ True fun produces this visceral sense of lightness and joy
๐Ÿ‘‰ Fun unites us.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Fun also makes us healthier.

At our programmes children are given the opportunity to FLOW (time + space + freedom), to be PLAYFUL (unstructured and child-led play) and to CONNECT (with themselves, others, and the natural environment) = REAL FUN!

โš ๏ธ DOGS DIE IN HOT CARS. If you love them, don't leave them. โš ๏ธ

The Team from SPCA New Zealand

It's a message we share time and time again, and this year, we're calling on you to help us spread that message further.
Did you know that calls to SPCA about dogs left inside hot cars made up a whopping 11% of all welfare calls last summer? This is a completely preventable issue, and one which is causing hundreds of dogs (often loved pets) to suffer.
Here are some quick facts to share with the dog owners in your life:

๐Ÿ‘‰ The temperature inside a car can heat to over 50ยฐC in less than 15 minutes.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Parking in the shade and cracking windows does little to help on a warm day. Dogs rely on panting to keep cool, which they can't do in a hot car.
๐Ÿ‘‰ This puts dogs at a high risk of heatstroke - a serious condition for dogs, with a mortality rate between 39%-50%.
๐Ÿ‘‰ It is an offence under the Animal Welfare Act to leave a dog in a hot vehicle if they are showing signs of heat stress. You can be fined, and prosecuted.
SPCA has created downloadable resources to help you spread the message even further. Posters, a flyer, and a social media tile can be downloaded from our website here: www.spca.nz...
We encourage you to use these - and ask your local businesses to display the posters if they can. Flyers can be kept in your car and handed out as needed.
This is a community problem, and one we cannot solve alone. Help us to prevent more tragedies this summer by sharing this post.
On behalf of the animals - thank you โค๏ธ
