More importantly, the speaker will outline her in-depth understanding of the New Zealand Chinese based on her decades of research. She will share with the audience issues like why the Chinese are so diverse (and not one uniform community), where they reside, their ties to the homeland and their sense of allegiance to New Zealand. To them, where is home?
The speaker will also explore their relationship with New Zealand’s tangata whenua, the Maori.
