MY FAVOURITE CAKE
Iran (subtitles), 2024 Comedy/Drama
97 mins, Rated M
Cast: Lili Farhadpour, Esmaeel Mehrabi.
Mahin is 70 and has been a widow for over 30 years. Added to that, her two children live abroad, so she lives an uneventful life in Tehran, where women's rights are heavily restricted.
But one day, Mahin decides to join her visiting friends for an afternoon tea and a chance encounter with a taxi driver, Faramarz makes her feel alive again.
With the beginnings of a spark in her heart, Mahin invites Faramarz to dinner (despite the prying and judgmental eyes of her neighbours) and their evening is one that brings both of them unpredictable surprises and memories to treasure.

What does ANZAC day mean to you?
ANZAC Day is a time to reflect, remember, and honour those who served.
It’s also a powerful reminder of the impact of war and the courage of those who stood for something greater than themselves.
We're interested to hear what ANZAC Day means to you and your whānau, and about any special traditions you follow each year.
Perhaps you have a loved one who served? If you feel comfortable, we’d love for you to share their story here with us.
