We look out at a magnificient large tree across the valley from us. In early summer the wood pigeons spend a lot of time in it. It has milky sap if you break a bit off, at the moment it has immature 'berries' which we guess is what the pigeons enjoy later on. I've uploaded some pictures in the hope someone can identify the type of tree for me. Incidentally, I think I have a small epiphyte of this same tree growing in a fork of my causurina tree. Is there anyone out there who can identify this tree for me? Thanks in advance.

We know about Northland’s unsealed roads, our changeable weather and the fact that our people live over a wide-spread area that’s often difficult to access quickly by road. We’re also aware of the increased risk of death and serious injury caused when medical treatment is delayed – all of which makes Northland’s Rescue Helicopter service so essential.

Love food, hate waste, reduce emissions

This is enough food to feed the whole of Dunedin for nearly three years, and costs the average household $644 a year.
New Zealand’s yearly food waste produces 409,234 tonnes of carbon emissions, as much as 137,511 Ford Ranger cars. In high-income economies like NZ, up to 35 percent of food is thrown out by consumers. In low-income economies, however, relatively little is wasted at the household level.
Unsurprisingly, reducing food waste is the third most efficient solution to reduce CO2 emissions and thus global warming and climate change. It's one of the few low-hanging fruit (pun intended), and a solution that is simple and cheap enough to allow all of us to make a contribution, without having to invest first.

Tony from Onerahi

Tuesday (29th) The WDC have a contractor going into the dog park to do some decompaction work and fertilise the grass. They will be going in early (before 8am and it will take 2 – 3 hours.

The park will need to be closed for that period.
Can you spread the word from your end?

Less than a week ago brave Hollie received the devastating news that she had a rare, aggressive and advanced form of terminal breast cancer.
Hollies type of cancer is Triple Negative, only a slim 10 - 20% of cancers are this type. It won’t respond to normal therapy medicines and doctors are intensely interested in finding new medications to treat it. While studies are still trying to find out if certain medications can interfere with the growth of this cancer, it is unlikely to respond to normal therapy medicines. In a nutshell this type of cancer means treatment options are dramatically diminished.
The devastating prognosis is coupled with the intense financial strain this devastating disease causes. Financial costs of extra treatments, not to mention the simple cost of surviving from day to day with Hollie unable to work. While managing the symptoms and side effects of this horrible disease, the financial pressure is overwhelming.
Hollies has just celebrated her 30th birthday, her smile always lights up the room and she is so bright and bubbly - anyone you ask will tell you that! She’s made a difference in so many people’s lives over the years working at Orrs Pharmacy in Bream Bay, if not with help or advice then simply her gorgeous smile!
Now it’s time for us to give back to Hollie and raise as much as we can for our beautiful warrior. Please please please dig deep and donate whatever you can!

If you can Give a Little to help Hollie - use this Link - and, THANK YOU!

After 20 pleasurable years, the owners of The Peppertree are now ready to move on. They want a sale and have instructed us to present all offers.

Beginning life as a renowned restaurant and currently operating very successfully as boutique accommodation, The Peppertree works very well as a function centre and would also make a superb cellar door. Located with State Highway frontage close to Blenheim and situated on the soon to open Picton to Kaikoura cycleway, it is ideally positioned to cash in on Marlborough’s growing tourism industry.

Each of the five beautifully appointed suites has been subtly themed, providing individual charm as well as comfort. The heart of the home is a spacious, recently renovated farmhouse kitchen enjoying garden and orchard views. A large wood burner with wetback and solar heats the water for a series of radiators around the house, ensuring warmth year-round.

Encompassing four hectares and featuring organically managed vineyard and gardens, fruit trees, berry patches, olives and grazing for sheep, cattle, and horses, The Peppertree is close to being self-sufficient. The extra land also offers an opportunity for future expansion and development.

The rateable value for land and improvements is $1,520,000.
All offers requested to be received by 4 pm Wednesday 27 November 2019.

For more information or an appointment to view, please contact Michal or Tim.
