We have reopened in accordance with Alert Level-3 restrictions. Those that come onsite only do so if and when it is necessary to carry-out their work or business and only when government health guidelines can be properly followed.
As of today, we are able to take orders for ceramics supplies, for delivery or contactless pick-up from the carpark, provided the order and payment can be made in-advance. Also, ceramic works that need firing in our kiln can be dropped-off and collected by arrangement. We certainly hope this offers some relief to our community.

It is especially pleasing to invite our resident artists to return to use their studios.
For professional artists this is a particularly challenging time. For many artists, their source of livelihood has disappeared, and their prospects are unclear. The Quarry Arts Centre team will continue working with our arts community to find ways to maintain a healthy flow of inspiration and exchange through uncertain times.
To our wider community of artists and enthusiasts, we invite you to reach out to each other and to us, so that we all have the greatest opportunity to reinvent what we create together. In times of crisis like these we are all called upon to make positive changes to how we get things done, as a community.
Unfortunately, we are not yet able to open to the public for casual visits and our ongoing schedule of workshops and exhibitions is still on-hold.
The annual Great Plate event will be going ahead! We’re working to keep it on schedule, in July, and we will keep you all updated. The Great Plate is an important fundraising event on the Quarry Arts Centre calendar with much ado and a great amount of fun had by all. We are so very grateful to our generous community of artists and supporters; ‘throwing’ or sculpting plates, painting, embellishing and donating them for a high-stakes online auction. This year’s event will be especially meaningful in these interesting times.

Two weeks then a review
• On 11 May, we will review our progress and decide if we can safely continue to step down restrictions, or if more measures are required to protect us all.
• So the decisions we each make now, matter. Because every interaction we have is an opportunity for the virus to spread.
Keeping safe at Alert Level 3
• At Alert Level 3, the best way to keep those around you safe, is by keeping your bubble small. Interact with as few people as possible. Less people equals less risk. And continue to stay at home whenever you can.
• We should each be making the minimal number of trips. Be sure to stay local, and only make necessary trips.
• And importantly, work and learn from home if you can.

Harken! Forced to act and act with force,
stepped-up our stately queen,
Her A-team laboured as surgeons might,

'Tihei mauri ora!' encored high-up ancient folk,

O! As Maui had once pulled and fought,

'Be kind', her call, as 'cind' we immortalise it,

So, from next week, will we all walk around like this man and his bubble? As I was racing around the lawn today with the mower, I could not shed the mental image of being followed by one of them.
Free Algaves. We just pulled lots of Algaves from our garden. There a range of sizes (only the big ones are in the photograph but there are lots of smaller ones). They aren't spikey so family friendly and transplant well. If you are interested please contact Erin on 0220358523

While we are looking to be getting some rain next week, it will not be the amount we need to get us out of this situation quickly.
