Volunteer as a Hospital Friend and make a positive contribution to patients
Be there for patients, their whanau and friends. As a "Friend of the Emergency Department (FED)" and "Hospital Friend" you will offer comfort, information, and support to patients within the Emergency Care Centre.
We ask volunteers to commit to one shift a week or fortnightly, to cover a roster of three four-hour shifts per day (morning, afternoon and evening), every day of the week (Monday to Sunday) and 52 weeks of the year.
If you would like to make a unique and valuable contribution to the community and feel you have the following qualities, then we would like to hear from you.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
