Whangarei Film Society - Screenings for Thursday March 28th

On Thursday, the 28th March at 6pm WFS will be screening the Brazilian black comedy, Charcoal.
Our 8pm screening will be the UK Drama directed by Ken Loach, The Old Oak.

In the Brazilian countryside, a family straining under the financial burden of caring for their sick grandfather are quietly offered a deal. Their bills will be covered if they take in a lodger.
They agree and it seems like their prayers have been answered but they then discover their guest is a drug lord who has faked his death. The family must pretend all is okay as they work to get their old lives back.

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
