Future Proofing the Silverdale Pioneer Village
To ensure the future viability of key buildings in the Silverdale Pioneer Village we have begun the process of preparing two buildings, the Old Neville Homestead and the Old Parsonage for repiling.
Having been relocated to the Village over the last 55 years, these historic buildings need some attention so that future generations can enjoy them and our collection of artifacts from the early Pioneering days in the Silverdale District.
Volunteers have opened up the access to the building foundations in preparation for Engineers to begin the process of repiling.
Keep an eye out on our Website and Facebook Page as we progress the refurbishment over the next few months.
Any donations or sponsorship towards the very high cost of doing this work will be gratefully received and our bank account details are on our web site.

Smoke in Mt Wellington
Smoke has been seen coming from the crater of the Auckland maunga Mt Wellington.
Images of the smoke began appearing on social media on Friday afternoon.
Around 1.45pm, Fire and Emergency (Fenz) shift manager Josh Pennefather told the NZ Herald a crew was fighting a fire of about 60 square metres in size.
”It’s spreading up hill … [but] there’s no property at risk at this stage,” Pennefather said.
Six fire trucks were in attendance working to contain a grass fire that's spreading up the maunga.
A helicopter was on its way to assist firefighting efforts, he added.
At 2pm, Pennefather shared that the fire was contained and they were working to extinguish it, including “keeping an eye on a whole bunch of hot spots“.
