Eastern Bay Villages: Te Kokoru Manaakitanga
Kia ora neighbourly people
Eastrn Bay Villages is a new initiative by some of us to increase neighbourliness in our communities, and enable all seniors/kaumatua to live well in their own homes as they age. We have a meeting tomorrow and all are welcome to come and hear more.
10 – 12 Tues 14 November 2017
Whakatāne Hospital Maori Services Taneatua room*
An opportunity to hear about our plans and share your ideas.
Everyone is welcome. We hope to have someone from each of the many clubs and organisations we have spoken, to so they can share our progress with their members.
If you are coming, if possible, bring along a senior/kaumātua who might benefit from more social support.
RSVP to easternbayvillages@gmail.com or phone Ruth on 027 430 8149
If that date does not suit let us know. If enough people would prefer a weekend or evening gathering then we will arrange that too.
*To find the Taneatua room go down Garaway St, past the main hospital entrance to turn in at Gate 5. Follow the signs to the main carpark. Then take the path north, past the first building on the left to Maori Services.
Wander more, worry less
Few things in life are as enriching as the thrill of travel or the camaraderie among friends. At Ryman’s Bert Sutcliffe Village in Auckland, a group of intrepid travellers have combined the two.
It all began when Bert Sutcliffe Village resident Marie began arranging evenings at the theatre for her neighbours. The theatre enthusiasts soon became close friends and as their friendships developed so did their adventures, expanding their horizons to include long lunches, winery tours, group dinners and adventurous holidays in New Zealand and overseas.
