A severe thunderstorm watch is in place for the following areas: Coromandel Peninsula, Waikato, Taumarunui, Bay of Plenty, Rotorua, Taupo, Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, Taihape, Manawatu, Tararua, Marlborough, Nelson, Buller, Westland, and Canterbury High Country.
Take care when driving as heavy rain can cause surface and/or flash flooding, and may lead to slips and hazardous driving conditions. Keep up to date here
