200L water tanks available on Saturday 21 September

Malcolm Sparrow from Wellington City Councillor Northern Ward

Who will buy our 1000th 200L emergency water tank?

Northern Ward city councillors’ most recent promotion took us to 989 x 200L tanks that we’ve sold in the past three years or so. This coming Saturday, 21st September, we will be selling the tanks outside Countdown Johnsonville (next to The Warehouse), and that will be when we hit the 1000 mark!

A few months ago when we were contemplating this milestone, we decided we’d make a bit of a fuss when we handed over number 1000!
So to celebrate the event, those who pre-order and pre-pay 200L emergency water tanks for this Saturday – to be picked up at Johnsonville – will have their names go into a hat, not just once, but two entries per person! Those who “walk up” and pay on the day will have their names go into the same hat, but just one entry per person.

On the reasonable assumption that we’ll sell at least 11 water tanks this Saturday (taking us up to #1000), the one name drawn out of the hat will be regarded as the 1000th tank sold! To celebrate, we will refund $60 of the purchase price of $115, with the other $55 being donated to a school, church, charity or community group (of the winner’s choice) within the northern suburbs of Wellington.

If you don’t already have a 200L emergency water tank, or need another one – bearing in mind the official recommendation is to store 20L of water per person for seven days – you can pre-order your tank now by emailing malcolm.sparrow@wcc.govt.nz to reserve a tank. Once you have sent through your $115 payment, we will hold one for you for pick up outside Countdown Johnsonville (next to The Warehouse) on Saturday. Alternatively you may pay cash on the day, but on a first in, first served basis.
