Local house fire - Smoke alarms save lives!

John Pitchford from Tawa Volunteer Fire Brigade

Late on Saturday night (25/02/17) the brigade attended a local house fire. Although the house has been fire damaged, the occupants had smoke alarms fitted and, as a result, they had early warning of the fire when their smoke alarms activated. As a result, all occupants were able to get out of the property safely.

If you want to get smoke alarms or have queries or questions about them, please contact us at the station on 04-2327228.

We'd also like to thank those local residents who offered all the fire crews drinks and snacks, they were much appreciated! (Especially the lady who'd made the Danish's with jam!)

Poll: Is it rude to take a full trolley to self-checkout?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Luckily self-checkout is being pretty common in supermarkets these days and we generally use it to quickly buy a few things without the long lines. But perhaps it's appropriate to head there with your full trolley to skip the lines?

What are your thoughts? Is that rude?

Share in the comments below if this has ever happened to you.
