no 14 bus - council still refuses reinstate service

Marian from Roseneath

While councillors Kedgley and Blakely have been helpful and worked to ensure Roseneath and Hataitai kids can get to Kilbirnie schools once the no 14 route to Rongotai is discontinued, GRWC and Metlink still refuse to consider a compromise and continue the service to Kilbirnie or Rongotai as is currently the case. Metlink are using inaccurate data, ignoring the peak hour use, and while they have said they still have the ability to reinstate the service they refuse to. Thank you to those who appeared before the transport committee on 9 May. Most councillors were interested in our issues but I felt Cr Barabara Donaldson's behaviour was inappropriately aggressive toward us especially when some of our party were clearly nervous and tearful. Metlink staff were I thought also unexpectedly rude and dismissive when we were polite. Our petition has been ignored too. Anyone interested in keeping the number 14 might be best placed emailing the transport committee chair Barbara.Donaldson@gw.govt.nz. We are also asking our kids to collect bus use stats this week to email to the council. I may be naive but I still think the council should be meeting our needs and listening to us!
