Hataitai MenzShed
Welcome to the winter issue and yes, we are building steam.
It’s been great to welcome new members and friends to the July Market Day opening where we
assembled over twenty rat boxes for Predator Free Mt Victoria and Predator Free Wellington.
We have since built another 20 boxes with half going back to PF Wgtn to distribute.
A big Thanks to Floyd (our coordinator) for getting the ball rolling and helping to sort where stuff
should go and especially to Ross for getting our machinery in good working order and setting rules
for its use. An emergency first aid sign has also been made plus we look forward to a defibrillator
being set up at The Hataitai Centre kindly sponsored by Ryman.
At this stage our operating hours are Wednesday’s 10am to 1pm and Market Day (1st Saturday of
each month) but we are open to more options. Come along to our next Rat Box Building 6
th August.
We are currently working on a number of small projects being:
Rat box assembly – Grant, Nigel, Harper, Paul, Ross.
Hataitai Community House Children’s outdoor table refurbishment – Mil
Hataitai Community Compost bin x 7 - rat proofing with wire mesh – Russ
Water blasting non-slip mats for Hataitai Community Centre entrance way – Chris
Utilising wood from Waipapa Reserve Playground upgrade to make 5 outdoor tables – Roger & Chris
Planter box repair work re Community Garden – Craig
We welcome new projects and any ideas to improve the environment and safety here at the shed.
On the side, we are also looking for communications and electrical skills.
Lastly, we welcome you to just turn up, chew the fat and to hear your story – spread the word.
Drop us a line with your thoughts.

Live Q&A: Garden maintenance with Crewcut
This Wednesday, we are having another Neighbourly Q&A session. This time with John Bracewell from Crewcut.
John Bracewell, former Black Caps coach turned Franchisee Development Manager and currently the face of Crewcut’s #Movember campaign, knows a thing or two about keeping the grass looking sharp—whether it’s on a cricket pitch or in your backyard!
As a seasoned Crewcut franchisee, John is excited to answer your lawn and gardening questions. After years of perfecting the greens on the field, he's ready to share tips on how to knock your garden out of the park. Let's just say he’s as passionate about lush lawns as he is about a good game of cricket!
John is happy to answer questions about lawn mowing, tree/hedge trimming, tidying your garden, ride on mowing, you name it! He'll be online on Wednesday, 27th of November to answer them all.
