Travel through Mount Victoria Tunnel

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Police have advised that there is protest action this morning at Mt Victoria Tunnel and motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.

The protest action is on the Hataitai side (Ruahine Street) of the Mount Victoria Tunnel and began this morning around 8am. Protesters have been seen dangling above the tunnel entrance.

Police have shared that the safety of the public is their top priority and these tunnel lanes will be monitored. Where possible, use alternative route for travel at this time.

***UPDATE: 9.45am: Mt Victoria Tunnel lanes, east and west-bound, are currently CLOSED. Motorists are asked to avoid SH1 from the airport and eastern suburbs into the city via the Mt Victoria Tunnel and instead use Evans Bay or Newtown when travelling city-bound. ***
