Roadworks in Ellice Street from 13 December
This is to advise of upcoming maintenance work to the kerb, channel and footpath. Fulton Hogan are contracted to Wellington City Council for roadworks. They have a lot of work to complete so have broken it down into sections. They are planning work around the school holidays and requirements of the school buses. Section 1 they aim to complete before the Christmas break. Then they will have 2 crews working through January to complete as much of section 2 during the school holidays as possible, before working on section 3. Work will start on 13 December before having a break for Christmas and returning early in the New Year.

Ellice Street, sections between Hania Street and the quarry end

This work is weather dependant and in the event of unsuitable weather or other unforeseen circumstances, the work will possibly be delayed.
Please ensure your vehicle is parked clear of the worksite.
📷To do this work FH need the site to be clear of vehicles and other obstructions so parking will be affected. Please ensure your vehicle is parked clear of the highlighted work area. If your vehicle is parked in the way FH may tow it to a suitable park nearby. Should your vehicle be moved and not returned to its original location, please check nearby streets first before ringing the contractor .
What access will be available during this time?
Stop/go traffic management will be in place to allow vehicle access at all times. This will be accompanied by a reduced speed limit. Pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to use the route but please follow the directions of our crew when passing through the work site.
📷Will these road works effect access to my property?
📷Residents and / or business owners will have access to their property but during phases of resealing you may experience some delays. In the case of an emergency, essential services will be given priority. If you are expecting a delivery or have a tradesperson needing access we will navigate them through the work site. Rubbish collection and recycling will continue as usual.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
