Sautoun school's great gate saga
The great gate saga of St Anthony’s School has been solved.
The gate was discovered missing from the Seatoun School during a walk around by principal Denise Johnson on Friday.
The gate, which normally stood between the school yard and a path to the road, beside the neighbouring parish, was part of a matching set, had been removed, bolts and all.
A neighbour saw a man putting the gate into his car and it was assumed itr had been stolen. After it was reported to the police, however, it was found that a well meaning local had taken it to do some repairs.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
