Healthy Homes Standards
On the 1st of July 2019, the government implemented the Residential Tenancies (Healthy Homes Standards) Regulations 2019 which introduced specific and minimum standards around 5 key areas of a rental property: Heating, Insulation, Ventilation, Moisture and Drainage, and Draught Stopping. Please see the link below.
As from 1 December this year, it will be a requirement to include a Statement of Current Level of Compliance for any new, varied, or renewed tenancy agreement. This Statement outlines exactly how the property currently complies and where it ‘fails’, and what steps will be taken to ensure compliance before the deadline of 1 July 2021.
If you have a rental and need help with any of these new requirements please call Andrew on 0274888933.
Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?
An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.
When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
