Walking in Island Bay
Hi All, Can I make a request - I am gong to have a go at people who phone parking services if they are out walking and can't use the footpath for a minute.
We had a vehicle parked in Severn St Extn for half an hour while we were waiting for a drop off of firewood, using a trailer & ute, so needed clear access up our drive. We had the vehicle parked half on the road & half on footpath & someone very unkindly called parking services & the vehicle was ticketed.
I would also like to point out that this street is quite narrow & on so many occasions we have had service vehicles ie Ambulances & Fire trucks not able to pass due to vehicles being parked fully on the road. This actually does happen often, so residents have learnt to park half & half for this very reason.
But I would suggest, that someone was out walking last Saturday & become offended they had to access the road for a split second to get past. I appreciate if you have a pushchair or toddlers this can be annoying but really, to call for a ticket to be given is a little unfair, particularly the hardship some people are facing at the moment with money issues.
If you don't like it then find another street to wander up & down please, as we the residents are ok with it. I would also like to point out there is a vehicle in the exact same spot, which incidently has been there since about an hour after we moved ours & has not moved - 7 days ago. Yet no parking ticket????
