Harrison Street flats - to be demolished and rebuilt by WCC

Carl from Brooklyn

Harrison Street flats - GBRAI has been notified that this block of flats (WCC tenants moved out due to low EQ rating and deemd dangerous in event of a substantial earthquake.) are to be demolished and rebuilt.

We are organizing a meeting on Saturday 18 May at 10am at the Brooklyn Community Centre, Harrison Street, to discuss and communicate with interested parties (local residents, Brooklyn school, Harrison St play-centre, Brooklyn scouts etc). The meeting will organized by GBRAI and hosted by the BCA. This work will add further congestion , noise and traffic flow through the heart of Brooklyn.

We invite you to attend, and we have "officers of council", demolition personnel with a management plan for Harrison street Cleveland street with time frames.

As well, we note that Brooklyn School are continuing with their rebuilding programme and are also starting the next stage (around 20 May) and will be also working in Harrison Street and we have asked them for their plans as well We hope to see you next Saturday at 10am.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
