Wero Mai, A Maori Board Game

Grace from Island Bay

Want to learn more Te Reo Maori? Love board games? Want to get the kids off electronic devices and interacting with the family or with their friends?

Well, WERO MAI is a MAORI BOARD GAME for beginner Te Reo Maori Learners.

Wero Mai is a Young Enterprise business that has created a Maori board game to educate kiwis on Maori language and culture. The game is an interactive tool that allows for beginner Te Reo Maori learners to learn basic vocabulary in a fun social way. Only 3.7% of kiwis speak fluent Te Reo Maori and Wero Mai values kaitiakitanga and wants the language to be sustained as it is one of New Zealand’s three official languages.

Wero Mai is a bilingual flashcard game that can be played individually or in teams. The game covers a range of topics such as months, days, numbers, wildlife, Maori culture and NZ places. The game is filled with challenges like our Taniwha, which maximises learning and involvement from all players! The question based game brings families and friends together, off electronic devices and allows for players to learn more about Maori language and culture.

For more information, click on Wero Mai’s website where you can also order the game (delivery available). weromaiwegc.wixsite.com...

Or check out our instagram to see what we have been up to when going to different schools and corporate companies in Wellington... weromai_
