Month of major delays likely for morning commuters into Christchurch

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from Northern Outlook

North Canterbury drivers will experience major disruption during their morning commute to Christchurch as road resurfacing is carried out over the next month.

The work, on the Waimakariri Bridge southbound lanes, will start on Saturday afternoon, requiring the closure of the Tram Rd on-ramp during the morning peak hours on week days.

The work is part of the final stages of the Christchurch Northern Corridor motorway project.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) portfolio delivery manager Colin MacKay said the ramp would be closed between 5.30am and 9.30am Monday to Friday, until late September. Read more here.
