North Canterbury teen takes out Oceania mountainbike champs
A North Canterbury teen has just won the under-17 category of the Oceania Mountainbiking Champs and now has his sights set on the world junior champs.
Rangiora High School student Jacob Turner, who is a member of the North Canterbury Cycling Club and the Rangiora High School mountainbike team, said the course at the event earlier this month was reasonably technical, rocky and fast.
"It was a really strong field and good competitors, so I definitely wasn't expecting to drop them [other riders] in the first 10 minutes."
