Have your Say - Coastal Workshop
COASTAL WORKSHOP FOR ŌTAKI, TE HORO AND PEKA PEKA RESIDENTS
Our Coastal Advisory Panel is working with our communities to get your views for how your area should adapt to coastal hazards.
First off the block is the ‘Northern Adaptation Area’, from Ōtaki to Te Horo and Peka Peka. We’re grouping these areas together because they’re experiencing similar coastal processes and hazards. If you live in or have connections with these three communities, come along this Saturday to share your views on what you value about this part of our coast, what concerns you most about the coastal changes you’re seeing, and your ideas for how your community should adapt.
This community workshop is in the Ōtaki Rotary Lounge, 25 Aotaki Street, Ōtaki on Saturday 24 September, from 2–4pm. See you there!
There will be a similar event for Waikanae Beach residents in February 2023.

Paper Shredding
I will be doing a lot of paper shredding over the next few weeks. Is there anybody who would like the shredded paper. I don't know if you can use it for hamsters and other pets, maybe it could go in your compost.
Just let me know if you want some.
Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
