Veggie Plants Waikanae and Otaki Markets This Weekend
More heirloom tomato varieties to chose from this week and hopefully the full range ready by next weekend.
We are at Waikanae Market Saturday mornings (look out for our site along Park Road)and Otaki on Sundays - always 'weather permitting'.
Heirloom varieties are those which have stood the test of time and have superior taste (and often greater health benefits) than those commercially grown for the supermarkets. Some have been around for literally hundreds of years. Please pm me if you would like the full list.
Large well-grown plants ready to plant as soon as the ground finally warms up (they will not thrive outdoors in current conditions). $3.00 each.
A range of colours and sizes to suit every use, from salads and salsas to preserves and pickles.
Also dwarf and climbing beans, snow peas and Zucchini, including 'Partenon', an ideal early season variety as it is self-fertile and will set fruit in cooler weather when bee activity is low.
More Zucchini varieties coming next weekend plus the first Pumpkin and Kumi Kumi.
Coming up in November, we will have Capsicums, and Chillies - including some with really eye-watering heat!

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
Do you think this ban is reasonable?
