Please support our Street Appeal

Mary Potter Hospice

We’ll be out on the streets of Wellington, Porirua and Kapiti on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 May for our 2018 Annual Appeal. Please donate when you see us - every dollar helps keep our services free. If you don't have cash, we'll have Eftpos at some locations, or you can donate via our website.

We provide compassionate and quality hospice care for the terminally ill and their families in our community, when and where you need us, free of charge – thanks to your generosity.

We are your Hospice. Please help us, and give generously this Appeal.

Thank you so much for your support,
Jenna

Poll: Is it rude to take a full trolley to self-checkout?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Luckily self-checkout is pretty common in supermarkets these days and we generally use it to quickly buy a few things without the long lines. But perhaps it's appropriate to head there with your full trolley to skip the lines?

What are your thoughts? Is that rude?

Share in the comments below if this has ever happened to you.

BIKE RACK RACKET

Michael from Trentham

Wellington City Council recently provided a large public covered bicycle rack on or near The Terrace at a horrendous cost of $562,000 plus interest from the loan and no guarantee it will be utilised past a few bikes.

I hope that the covered bike rack outside of Wallaceville railway station in Upper Hutt didn't cost more than $20,000. This rack holds 32 bikes but my wife and I have never seen more than two bikes stationed there at any one time - usually either one or none - in the year or so of been constructed.

Talk about wasting ratepayers money. It's all part of this craze on cycle lanes and the misguided notion of demand and useage.

Photos show the Wallaceville bike stand taken today at 4pm.
