Appearance Industry By Law

Upper Hutt City Council

We’re considering adopting a new bylaw for ‘Appearance Industries’ (tattoo shops, beauty salons, massage, facials, cosmetic clinics, spas, manicure and pedicure clinics, and ear/body piercing businesses).

We have already spoken with several stakeholders about a range of issues, and are proposing to adopt a new bylaw to manage these risks.

Our goal is to protect and improve public health for operators and their clients in Upper Hutt.

We’re keen to hear your thoughts on the proposal. To find out more and to have your say, go to letskorero.upperhuttcity.com

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.

When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?

HAS CNN GOT IT RIGHT

Michael from Trentham

Set the scene:

CNN today showed a preview of a movie about reforming Pope Francis and the clips ended with a riled up Pope raising his voice to a person - maybe a Bishop or Cardinal - inside the Vatican in Rome.

Immediately after this came on screen the headline: SINNER LEADS ITALY TO WIN IN DAVIS CUP.

Jannik Sinner is a member of the Italian tennis team.

Gave me a laugh.
