Upper Hutt City Council's sole Recycling station - full up again!
We attended the recycling station today at 1 pm, only to find the two small plastic recycling bins full to overflowing, and cars were turning away as they couldn't unload their plastics and tins. The recycling station is supposed to be open to 8 pm, so with 7 hours to go, many more people are going to come away frustrated by the council's inaction to provide a proper recycling stations throughout the city. I have previously emailed the the Mayor about this ongoing problem, but of course I didn't receive any answer from him or his executive. Maybe the Upper Hutt leader can investigate and shame the council into taking action to provide more bins or to have the bins emptied more regularly.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?
An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.
When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
