Thinking of standing for Council?
Local Government New Zealand is encouraging passionate potential leaders to get ahead of the game and start thinking about running for their upcoming local Council elections now.
We are encouraging anyone who wants to make a difference in the local community to stand.
We need a range of elected members of different ages, ethnicities and backgrounds to represent the diversity of our community.
Interested? Attend the Candidate Information Session - Wednesday 17 July, 7pm, South Waikato Sport and Events Centre. This session is really IMPORTANT!
Nominations open Friday 19 July and close at 12 noon on Friday 16 August.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.
