Leith Place Tree Removal

South Waikato District Council

Council will begin the process of removing the trees in Leith Place tomorrow night from 5pm (so long as the weather conditions improve!). This work is expected to take about two weeks to complete and to cause as little nuisance as possible to retailers and shoppers the work will take place between 5pm and 10pm.

There will be no parking in Leith Place between 5pm and 10pm so if you park in the Leith Place car park, please make sure your car is out by 4.30pm - just to be safe.

Pedestrians will still have access to the Leith Place shops during works - though at times there may be restrictions. We will let you know when this is the case.

We are sad to say goodbye to our trees, but exciting times are ahead for the Tokoroa CBD! Council would like to thank our community for their patience during this project.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.

This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Do you think this ban is reasonable?

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.

When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
