Outback now older than patrons as iconic pub hits 30

It’s the battle of the Oompah band and the smart phone - but 30 years since Hamilton’s notorious student pub The Outback Inn poured its first beerfest stein, its owner thinks it’s still got what it takes to draw a crowd.

A seven piece band and nine cubic metres of sawdust on the floor will greet patrons on Friday celebrating three decades since the South end CBD pub became a rite of passage for city students in O Week.

Walking path & not one facility I could find to give a dog a drink of water.

Council. I would like to suggest that a dog drinking post or two be erected, with a metal bowl below and a self stopping tap to top it up, to give fresh water to thirsty dogs who accompany their owners on this pathway. Perhaps a water fountain at the top for the owner as well. Thank you.

‘Huge potential’ for Te Rapa Racecourse site if sale goes ahead

If the races gallop off to Tamahere, “exciting things” could happen with the sizeable city site they leave behind, property experts say.

On Tuesday, the Waikato Times revealed Waikato Thoroughbred Racing’s (WTR) plans to buy 150ha of farmland south of Hamilton to house the region’s three racing clubs at a new purpose-built racecourse and event centre.
