Thanks for coming!

Communications from Western Bay of Plenty District Council

Big thank you to everyone who not only attended the debates but participated in our polls and sent us questions! This was the first time we organised candidate debates for the District and we hope you enjoyed it.

We'd also like to give a shout-out to the candidates that went up and spoke about what matters to them with the spotlight on them. No one likes public speaking, so thanks again for coming.

So what now? ? A few things:

* If you missed the debates, you're welcome to watch our livestreams on www.generationchange.nz...

* Get to know your candidates more. Keep an eye out for community-organised debates in your area and you check out candidate profiles on our website on www.generationchange.nz...

* Save the date! Bring your completed voted papers for entry to one of our Poll Parties around the District on Saturday 24 September from 9am - 3pm. It's going to be a fun day for the whole whānau!

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
