There will be a road separating the two sides. They did ask for submissions a year ago, but as a local living in the area I missed ALL notices as they were in places not frequently visited, and missed being able to submit. Obviously I feel passionate about this as we are frequent visitors of the park with my grandchild, and am upset at the multiple road crossings in the near future. They hope to have Marine Parade a 30km zone to make it safer ( pretty much already this as the traffic is so bad anyway). And it is already a hazard to cross on the best of summer days!!! I cannot think of any children’s parks that have high usage that are separated by a busy road anywhere in the world. This is our rate payer money paying for this work which will be starting on Tuesday. If a child is hit on the road crossing when running from one activity to another will the council take responsibility or is it the parents fault for not adequate supervision??? Open for comments- but even better if you let the council know your thoughts.
They are planning BBQ and seating to go with the walkway which I think is a great idea…but a split park.??? I am no planning genius but have intelligent questions been asked? How many people within a 1000m radius submitted? If the numbers were low - why were they low???
They are also planning on putting in more fencing to protect the fragile dunes. Again rate payer funded. Best use of our rates in the current times???

A report has shown that clinics around New Zealand are understaffed, with GP's being overworked and underpaid. And for everyday kiwis, healthcare and emergency healthcare is simply not accessible.

The General Practice Owners Association of Aotearoa's report titled ‘‘On The Brink’’ outlines the urgent need to address pay parity for GP nurses and doctors, beef up workforce numbers and improve funding allocations for practices with the hopes that this makes heatlhcare more accessible in the community.

Are you noticing delays in getting GP appointments or long waits at after-hours care?

Any comments below may be shared in your local paper's We Say You Say column.

Listening to our award winners speak at our National Excellence Awards in November, we were inspired by our young people and how they are open to new opportunities since going through our programmes.

Kaden developed a 'give-it-ago' attitude during his Wilderness Adventure when one of his friends introduced him to Chess. Having never played before, Kaden kept practicing with his new friend, decided to enter a tournament for fun and ended up winning! An awesome accomplishment.
