Rates rises could be huge....

Karen from Welcome Bay

Everyone in Tauranga is urged to make submissions to Council for the Long Term Plan. We are not happy that the Commissioners are suggesting the rates rises should average 16.9% this year, with forecast increases in the following years resulting in a total 140% increase over 10 years!!!
Look at Wellington - the aging infrastructure is causing serious water and sewage problems, they have had sewage leaks and water geysers erupting in the streets. But Wellington Council have just decided that they shouldn't increase their rates by a "whopping" 16%, saying that would have been "completely unrealistic and a step too far". Instead they have decided on 13.5%, still high for those on fixed incomes.
We think that the Tauranga Council needs to seriously reconsider how best to manage the situation here. If you agree, please let the Council know.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.

This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Do you think this ban is reasonable?

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.

When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
