TE PUNA QUARRY PARK - SUSTAINABILITY DAY - SUNDAY 15 MARCH

Elly from Te Puna

Sunday 15 March 2020 will be ‘Sustainability Day’ in Te Puna Quarry Park, with stalls/tables selling plants, bulbs, used garden tools, preserves, natural creams, sustainable bags, etc. Plus you can hear about predator control, butterflies, bees, herbs, etc. For kids there will be rock painting, creative creature, making posies. And there will be a coffee cart with coffee and icecream.
This day is part of the garden ramble of ‘Sustainable Backyards’ organized by Envirohub. Sustainability or ‘what is good for mother nature’ is the theme of the park itself. So why not have a stroll through the ‘wilderness section’ (the left half) and the ‘cultural section’ (the right half of the park) featuring sculptures and stunning views. Each walk takes about an hour.
Quarry Park’s Sustainability Day runs on 15 March from 10am to 4pm, but Quarry Park is open from dusk to dawn. Te Puna Quarry Park is situated off SH2. Coming from Tauranga, go through Bethlehem, and after 7 km you’ll see Te Puna Quarry Road on your left. Drive in for about 1 km to enter the park. Info: Lorraine (lorrainemryan@wkds.co.nz, 021-02760879). See you Sunday, fun for young & old. Entrance is always free.

SPRING: Plants begin to grow and flowers to bloom. Animals awaken from hibernation. Babies - not just human babies - are often born in spring. In some parts of the world, spring brings rain that falls for hours on end, facilitating the growth of different plant life.
It's time to get on and keep on top of your gardens.
