Roaming dogs in Pukehina

Communications from Western Bay of Plenty District Council

Council is calling for information on dogs roaming on the beach at Pukehina and will be stepping up daily security monitoring. Residents have reported sightings of multiple dogs on the beach with no owners in sight and one person walking on the beach has reported the dogs acting in a threatening manner. Council is increasing early morning monitoring every day for the next two weeks as well as random monitoring at other times of the day. Please call Council if you see any dogs unattended on the beach – if possible send us a photo. Better still if you have any idea who these dogs belong to – let us know – all information will be treated in confidence. We want to catch these dogs and find their owners before any incident occurs. Call our customer services line immediately on 07 571 8008 – we are on call all hours of the day or email us at: Customer.Service@westernbay.govt.nz.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
