Curtain cleaning and maintenance
Cleaning and maintaining curtains can seem like a daunting task, given their size. But learning how to properly look after your drapes is easier than you might think, and will ensure yours stay in great condition for years to come. Here are some easy-to-follow tips for savvy curtain maintenance.
Beware of dust - Make sure you dust regularly, as this seemingly innocuous house guest can obliterate curtains, especially the more lightweight sort. For best results, vacuum them with a brush-tip attachment or use a hand-held cleaner, and be sure to clean around the sill. Take special care when vacuuming delicate fabrics such as lace.
Avoid sun damage - If you choose darker-hued curtains, be aware that strong sunlight can fade colours, quickly ageing the fabrics. Consider installing a window treatment, as these can reduce the majority of the sun’s glare, thereby preserving your curtains, as well as protecting you from dangerous UV radiation in the daytime.
Shake it off - If you have lined drapes, take a moment to give them a little shake each night as you draw them close. This will dislodge any particles that may have accumulated during the course of the day, making the fabric less likely to sustain damage from airborne dust and dirt.
If your curtains or linings are mouldy they may need to be professionally cleaned to ensure you aren't breathing in any harmful spores. Contact us for a friendly and professional service.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
