Heavy rain for Bay of Plenty and Gisborne
An active front moves northeastwards across the North Island today (Friday) through to early Saturday morning bringing a burst of heavy rain. The heaviest falls are expected in eastern Bay of Plenty, and Gisborne north of the city.
Area: Gisborne north of the City
Valid: 20 hours from 1:00pm Friday to 9:00am Saturday
Forecast: Periods of heavy rain. Expect 80 to 130mm to accumulate. Peak intensities of 25 to 35mm per hour, especially in thunderstorms.
Area: Bay of Plenty
Valid: 21 hours from 9:00am Friday to 6:00am Saturday
Forecast: Expect 120 to 160mm of rain. Peak rates of 25 to 40mm/h, especially in thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.
