Taupo SPCA

Quintin from Taupo Central

I'm not sure how many other people have had a bad experience with the staff at Taupo SPCA but we had people traveling through to the south island with their cat and the cat escaped their car and ran away. They had to carry on for work.
We caught the cat after 3 days and then had a hard time contacting the owners.
We called the SPCA to see if the could help keep the cat until the owners had been contacted and an arrangement had been made to get their cat back. The SPCA told me I had to detain the cat (I had already done this in a dog create) but they would not take it. I could not keep it either. Every time I said it could not stay here I was told if I did not listen to them she would hang up on me. I had to keep the cat or take it to a cattery. (had had no vet history to take it to a cattery)it was not my cat either so could not really do that. Eventually I found it a foster home with animal care. We are a motel and keeping it here was not an option. The council only deal with dogs and could not help. I really thought that this was what the SPCA was about and had been supporting their charity for years. Will be changing my charity to animal care from now on.
