Step into the Small Worlds of fibre artists
Local art group Fibres Unlimited is bringing its exhibition Small Worlds to Taupō Museum from this weekend.
Fibres Unlimited is a local group based in the Taupō District that creates artworks using all things fibre.
The group holds an exhibition biannually at Taupō Museum, each time with a different theme. This year the theme is ‘small worlds’. The concept has allowed the artists to create pieces from their own perspectives, whether they live in a small community with just a few degrees of separation, whether the online world makes the real world seem much smaller or whether a close-up view is more absorbing than a wide view. Each artist uses their favoured fibre to share their view and the repurposing of fibre is a common theme throughout.
Artists Coralie Skinner, Ylva Maxwell, Aletta Lamprecht, Leigh Motion, Barbara McQuarrie, Raewyn Ireland, Adri Shaw and Morag Scott have come together to bring their fibre creations to life in the exhibition.
The exhibition runs from August 17 to September 23 at Taupō Museum.
Poll: Should drivers retake the theory test every 10 years?
Drivers get where they need to go, but sometimes it seems that we are all abiding by different road rules (for example, the varying ways drivers indicate around a roundabout).
Do you think drivers should be required to take a quick driving theory test every 10 years?
Vote in the poll and share any road rules that you've seen bent! 😱
