Walk, run, dance, jump, or hop 10,000 steps a day and learn about global and local events and get to know real people who have been affected by disaster or conflict. Your fundraising efforts will go towards helping others, just like the people you will learn about.

Road closures during Taupo Marathon on August 3

Please be aware road closures will be in place during the Hoka One One Taupō Marathon on Saturday, August 3, as shown on the map.

The route has changed from previous years to accommodate the road closure on Lake Terrace put in place following the wastewater pipe breakage.

Please be aware road closures will be in place during the Hoka One One Taupō Marathon on Saturday, August 3, as shown on the map.

The route has changed from previous years to accommodate the road closure on Lake Terrace put in place following the wastewater pipe breakage.

Detours will be in place and signposted while roads are closed. Please drive with extra care and keep an eye out for competitors.

All it takes is a kind gesture to change someone’s day. From paying it forward in line at a cafe to giving flowers to a friend ‘just because’ - this month we’re encouraging our members and supporters to make New Zealand a better place one random act of kindness at a time.

The options for doing so are endless! Being kind doesn’t have to cost a thing, after all a smile is free. For those who want to go the extra mile, here’s some other ideas: Buy extra kai at the grocery store to donate to a food pantry, help someone with a broken down car or flat tire, bring treats into work for colleagues, send an encouraging text to someone who needs it, let a car into the traffic ahead of you, take a gift over to new neighbours and introduce yourself, write positive messages in chalk on sidewalks around your neighbourhood, or surprise loved ones with a visit.

This month also coincides with World Humanitarian Day on August 19th and Random Acts of Kindness Day (New Zealand) which is on September 1st.

From Taupō's self-described "iconic" Huka Prawn Park and the overcrowded sand baths at Coromandel's Hot Water Beach, to the decidedly average Moeraki Boulders in Waitaki - there are some places that just aren't worth your time or money.

Ramp fees, mooring and marina berthing fees for Lake Taupō are all going up by 22 per cent with further raises possible in the next 3 years.
The fee rises mean a current casual (24hrs) ramp fee of $5 increases to $6, while a 12 months ramp fee of $90 increases to $110. More … View more

Ramp fees, mooring and marina berthing fees for Lake Taupō are all going up by 22 per cent with further raises possible in the next 3 years.
The fee rises mean a current casual (24hrs) ramp fee of $5 increases to $6, while a 12 months ramp fee of $90 increases to $110. More substantial dollar value increases are seen in marina berth fees, for example a parallel, over 12.5m length berth at Taupō and Motuoapa marinas goes from $4000 annually to $4880.
The DIA says it will bring the fees on Lake Taupō into line with other lakes and marinas around the country.
