Franklin Chess Club

Ron from Papakura

Hi all below is a note about the Franklin Chess Club our last Club night for 2018 is on the 6th December.

FRANKLIN CHESS CLUB

Hello all just thought now is a Good time to pass on some information about our Club to both new and established players.
We meet once a month (currently but depending on membership that may change to twice a month)
Individual Membership cost to join the Franklin Chess Club is currently $15 a year Family Membership is $30 a year ( but again this may change if we have sufficient members to warrant meeting twice a month ) bear in mind that for example to join the Howick Pakuranga Chess Club it costs $140 per year for a senior membership, as far as strong clubs go that is the normal membership cost ,of course Howick Pakuranga have titled players and meets once a week for 3 plus hours per night, but still I'm sure you would agree $15 per year for our club is not outrageous it is only meant to cover room rental which with the previous membership numbers it did not.
I have ideas to improve our Club for example we will play a Rapid Club Championship next year also we will look at joining the New Zealand Chess Federation and I will instigate a Franklin Chess Club rating system for all players etc.
We will also play other Chess Clubs I have contacted and am in the process of arranging an away Chess Match with the Thames Chess Club they are keen probably in February March or April next year on a Sunday, let me know if theoretically depending on the date you would be interested.
Below are shortcuts to the Franklin Chess Club Facebook Page and Facebook Group you are Welcome to join either or both. Any questions about anything Chess related Please feel free to ask me. Our next club night is on February 7th .
